The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday described the party’s victory in the Katsina state council election as a clear affirmation that it is on the ground in the northwest and will win the votes in the zone in the 2015 general election.
Speaking through its national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, PDP described the victory as a reflection of its popularity and acceptance by Nigerians in all the nooks and crannies of the country.
The party said its “electoral victories, earlier in Kaduna and now in Katsina clearly indicate that it is on the ground in the zone and will sweep the votes not only in the northwest but also in the entire northern region in the 2015 general election”.
The PDP leadership congratulated Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina state, the state chairman of the party as well as its leaders and members in the state for the “successful outing”, attributing it to the “sterling performance of the PDP-led administration in the state, which is in line with the PDP ideology and President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda.”

This, it said, was in addition to the unity and oneness that is in its fold in Katsina state.
Thanking the people of Katsina state for their support expressed in the election, the party urged the newly elected local government officers to reciprocate by “working hard to ensure that their people not only continue to enjoy the benefit of having the PDP in power but also vote en-masse for it in the general elections.”
On its part, the national leadership said it would continue to guarantee strict adherence to the principles of internal democracy and provide level playing ground for all Nigerians to canvass and pursue their aspirations within the ambit of the overall national interest.
