Isa Yuguda, the governor of Bauchi state, has blamed Thursday’s attack on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan on some senior members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Yuguda, who is also a member of the ruling party, told the Hausa service of the BBC that some personalities based in Abuja, organized youths in the state to perpetrate the act, which led to the injury of six operatives of the department of state services.

The president’s campaign train was attacked while on its way to the Ibrahim Babangida Square, venue of the rally, after paying homage to Rilwan Adamu, the emir of Bauchi.

Hostility began as soon as he left the palace, as youths with brooms and posters of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) began to antagonise him.

As the president’s motorcade entered the campaign venue, some youths started throwing stones at the convoy.

The rally had to be rushed to avoid further incidents, but the convoy was attacked again as he made to leave the venue.

Yuguda, who has been having issues with Bala Mohammed, the minister of the federal capital territory and Adamu Mu’azu, his predecessor and national chairman of the PDP, however refused to disclose the identity of those he blamed for the attack.
