The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked members to withdraw all pending intra-party court cases.

In a statement on Tuesday, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said the party’s national working committee (NWC), at its meeting on November 28, “thoroughly reviewed the state of the party and directed that all pending intra-party litigations across the country should be withdrawn forthwith”.

The PDP NWC said its resolution is based on section 58 (1)(1) of the party’s constitution and is in line with the “spirit of unity and reconciliation”.

“The NWC urges all party leaders, critical stakeholders and members across the country to remain united and continue to promote the values for which the PDP is known as a truly democratic party,” the statement reads.

The PDP is embroiled in internal wranglings that have seen members institute various court cases against the party.

The latest infighting is over the position of the national secretary, with members heading to court to secure various court orders.

The PDP NWC also said it considered and approved the report of the establishment committee for the appointment of a substantive director-general of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), adding that the successful candidate will be announced soon.
