PDP will win in the south-west, says Mark

The return of key south-west politicians to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a good sign that the party will win in the geo-political zone in the 2015 elections, Senate President David Mark has said.

He was speaking on Wednesday at the national headquarters of the party when he and the national chairman, Adama Mu’azu, welcomed the former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, into the party.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state also returned to the party last week.

Mark said he expects more defections of south-west politicians into the PDP.

“I believe that with your home coming, the PDP is assured of victory in Ogun and the south-west,” he told Daniel.

Mark is the chairman of the South West Integration Committee.

Meanwhile, Daniel has asked for former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s forgiveness “if I have in anyway erred against him”.

He had fallen out with Obasanjo during his second term in office, leading to his exit from the party in 2011.

Mu’azu also asked for Obasanjo’s forgiveness.

“I want to join Governor Daniel to appeal to our Baba, President Olusegun Obasonjo, to forgive us. We are your children and we have been making mistakes; we had made mistakes and so we apologise.

“Please Baba, we apologise, come and lead us, even the president is waiting for you to come and lead us; you are our leader, we appreciate you, we thank you for your leadership and your courage,” he said.
