The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 15 of the 17 chairmanship positions in Plateau LG elections.

Planji Cishak, chairman of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), announced the results of the elections on Thursday in Jos, the state capital.

The local government and councillorship election was conducted on Saturday.

Cishak said the results for Pankshin and Langtang-north LGAs have not been fully collated.

The returning officer said the winners of the election had satisfied the provisions of the law and were duly elected.

He added that the results for the councilorship seats would be announced later.

In July, the supreme court ruled that the federal government should pay allocations directly to LG councils from the federation account.

The apex court also held that the federal government could withhold allocations of LGs governed by unelected officials.

Since then, state governments that had not held LG elections for years have begun to do so.
