PDP witness to tribunal: We chased away non-registered voters on election day

Affas Ibrahim, an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state during the presidential election, says he chased away non-registered voters from polling units on election day.

Ibrahim, number 43 on the petitioner’s list, said this at the presidential election petition tribunal while being cross-examined by E. Charles, counsel of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawyer had asked: “You chased away people from polling units?”

The witness replied, saying: “Yes, those who were not registered. Before we chased people [away], we will check their names in the voters’ register.”

When asked by Uztas Usman, INEC counsel, if he was permitted to move around on election day, Ibrahim responded saying that he was since he was appointed by his party to supervise PDP polling agents.

“I normally move around on a motorbike. My agents call me on phone and I ride to confirm. I was surprised when I saw people transporting things,” he said.

The PDP agent said he signed the EC8C form despite alleged manipulation because he is a “witness.”
