The Peoples Democratic Party Youth Frontier (PDPYF) on Tuesday justified the impeachment proceedings going on against governor of Nasarawa state,Tanko Al-Makura, saying the governor deserves to be impeached.
National secretary of PDPYF, Mukhtar Akoshile, released a statement urging the people of Nasarawa to support the lawmakers in the bid to oust the governor, whose “hands are not clean” and has therefore been “unable” to clear himself of the allegations against him.
“Tanko Al-Makura is yet to say a word in defence of himself as related to the allegations brought against him by the people of Nasarawa state via their representatives,” the statement read.
“We ask the good people of Nasarawa to stand with their representatives in the state assembly in this time when there is an urgent need to uproot a government built on the bases of corruption, sleaze and nepotism.

“Since APC governors like Tanko Al-Makura and former governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state have been discovered to have been having a swell time stealing funds meant for the development of their states, should the national leadership of the APC not tell Nigerians what these men are still doing in their folds, as progressives?”
The group revealed that most of its members were former members of APC, hence it is very familiar with the opposition party’s antics.
“The only point to take out of this situation is the fact that the APC is still neck deep in the game of lies and deceit. Perhaps, it is important that mention be made to the fact that a remarkable number of members of the PDP Youth Frontier joined from what used to be known as the APC Youth frontier as a result of which certain traits of the APC isn’t strange to us.

“Fraud, lies, deceit and propaganda are common commodities the APC trades in. As a group, we commend members of the Adamawa state house of assembly for listening to the cry of Adamawa people and taking step to tame the entrenchment of a cancerous government operated by Murtala Nyako, his wives and his son, whom he had groomed to take over from him as governor of a state that has produced prominent Nigerians like Dr. Idi Hong, Marcus Gindiri, Brig. Buba Marwa and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
“The APC is falling and should be allowed to fall flat as the proverbial house built on sand, as no amount of blames will cause them to gain ground again, not even their traditional system of hiring thugs to protest a legal attempt by the legislature to check the executive.”
PDPYF urged APC to learn from Dr. Kayode Fayemi who conceded defeat in the governorship election in Ekiti state.
Concrete attempts to impeach Al-Makura began on July 14, when speaker of state assembly, Alhaji Musa Ahmed, directed the clerk of the house to serve him with notice of impeachment for “gross misconduct”, following a motion of public interest raised by the deputy majority leader, Mr Yahaya Usman (PDP-Umaisha/Ugya).

After the governor frustrated the service of the notice on him, the lawmakers chose to serve it on the pages of newspapers.
