Youths in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa have asked the supreme court to ensure a fair hearing in the state’s governorship election dispute.
The youths, who staged a demonstration in Keffi, a town in Nasarawa that shares boundary with the federal capital territory (FCT), held placards bearing “Let Democracy Prevail”.
The Nasarawa guber dispute was not part the cases the apex court decided on Friday.
The supreme court affirmed the elections of Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau); Abba Yusuf (Kano); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos); Bala Mohammed (Bauchi); Dauda Lawal (Zamfara); Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi); Alex Otti (Abia), and Bassey Otu (Cross River).

Following a petition by David Ombugadu, candidate of the PDP, the Nasarawa governorship election tribunal sacked Abdullahi Sule as governor of Nasarawa state.
The tribunal declared Ombugadu as the duly elected governor of Nasarawa.
However, Sule appealed the ruling and the judgment of the tribunal was reversed.

Dissatisfied with the appellate court’s verdict, Ombugadu filed an appeal at the supreme court.
Speaking with journalists on Monday, Sani Mohammed, leader of the group, commended President Bola Tinubu for not interfering with the verdicts of the supreme court.
“Whoever wins on the 18th of March, 2023, let them give victory to the owner of the mandate and that is why we are here,” Mohammed said.
“We also call on our people to be law abiding, we don’t want any distraction in Nasarawa state, we don’t want any trouble in Nasarawa state. Our own, what we are looking for is our victory and by the grace of God Ombugadu will become the governor of Nasarawa state.
