‘People sleep on their beds and wake up in graves’ — reactions to killings in the north

Some Nigerians have taken to Twitter to express concern over incessant killings in the north.

Communities in the north have witnessed increased attacks by Boko Haram insurgents and armed bandits over the past weeks.

The most recent of the attacks occurred earlier in the week, when more than 80 people were killed by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno and over 40 in Katsina.

Tweeting with #NorthernLivesMatter, some Nigerians asked the government to take decisive action against the attackers.

Here are some reactions from Twitter:

Just look at how these criminals are moving freely, these are people that can be wiped out in a single day. Is not like we don’t have the Army and Airforce.
I don’t know who need to hear this, but the government must be involved.#NorthernLivesMatter #NorthernLivesMatter pic.twitter.com/atLiUW01pI
