Pep Guardiola signs two-year contract extension with Man City

Pep Guardiola has agreed to another two-year deal as the manager of Manchester City. 

The club announced the Spaniard’s contract extension in a statement on Thursday.

Guardiola joined Man City in 2016, and his contract with the club was due to expire at the end of the current season.

The new deal extends the manager’s spell at the Etihad to 11 years.

Guardiola said he has “everything a manager could ever wish for” at Man City and is hungry for more trophies with the club.

“Manchester City means so much to me,” the manager said.

“This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club.

“That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons.

“I have said this many times before, but I have everything a manager could ever wish for, and I appreciate that so much.

“Hopefully, we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won. That will be my focus.”

Guardiola has won 18 trophies, including six English Premier League (EPL) titles and the UEFA Champions League with Man City.

Last season, he led the team to its fourth consecutive EPL title, becoming the first men’s team in English football history to win four top-flight titles in a row.

However, Man City have been less impressive this season and are on a run of four successive defeats across all competitions.

The losing streak is the longest in the high-achieving managerial career of Guardiola
