Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid Football Club, has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Spanish giants said the 73-year-old tested positive during a routine check and “is not presenting any symptoms”.
“Real Madrid C. F. would like to inform that our president Florentino Pérez has tested positive in the COVID-19 tests that he periodically undergoes, although he is not showing any symptoms,” the statement read.
The long-term Madrid supremo is expected to enter a period of self-isolation and will only be in a position to return to the club’s facilities when he posts a negative test.

Perez’s COVID-19 diagnosis comes about two weeks after Zinedine Zidane, the club’s manager, also tested positive for the deadly disease.
Spain remains one of the hardest-hit countries by the novel coronavirus.
As of Tuesday, Spain has recorded 2,822,805 cases of COVID-19 with 59,081 deaths, according to John Hopkins University coronavirus resource center.
