Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid Football Club, has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Spanish giants said the 73-year-old tested positive during a routine check and “is not presenting any symptoms”.

“Real Madrid C. F. would like to inform that our president Florentino Pérez has tested positive in the COVID-19 tests that he periodically undergoes, although he is not showing any symptoms,” the statement read.

The long-term Madrid supremo is expected to enter a period of self-isolation and will only be in a position to return to the club’s facilities when he posts a negative test.
