Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, has urged security agencies to fish out perpetrators of the attack on Anwase community in Kwande LGA of the state.
On Christmas Day, about 11 persons were reportedly killed after gunmen attacked the village.
In a statement on Friday signed by Tersoo Kula, his chief press secretary, Alia expressed sadness over the tragedy.
The governor, who reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the lives of the people of the state, implored security personnel to improve their surveillance and ensure that vulnerable communities are not left unguarded.

“I can assure you, the perpetrators of this act will pay dearly for it,” the governor said.
“They may think they are not known, but they cannot be allowed to continue perpetrating this. It’s a matter of time.”
The governor condoled with families that lost loved ones in the attack and sympathised with the injured.

“His thoughts of comfort and prayers are with them at this difficult time,” the statement reads.
