Eight governors across northern and southern regions of the country have been recognised for their achievements in 2023.
The governors were recognised by Independent Newspapers Limited (INL) at its 13th annual awards ceremony which was held at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, on Saturday.
Tajudeen Abass, speaker of the house of representatives, Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Emmanuel Inwuanyanwu, president of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, were also recognised at the event.
The INL are publishers of Daily Independent, Saturday Independent, and Sunday Independent titles.

Speaking during the event, Steve Omanufeme, managing director of Daily Independent Newspaper, said the organisation recognised those who have performed excellently well in their areas of endeavour.
“The awardees were selected strictly based on their achievements while in office in 2023 without compromising the newspaper’s integrity as the most credible newspaper in Nigeria, with millions of followers to its credit,” he said.
