A witness from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate of Peter Mbah, Enugu state governor, was certified.
Dimas Friday Emmanuel, the witness, during a cross-examination on Tuesday, by Wole Olanipekun, Mbah’s lawyer, said the governor’s discharge certificate was forwarded to the NYSC for authentication.
He said the certificate, alleged to have been forged, carried an NYSC certification stamp, that shows that it can only emanate from the institution.
The witness further confirmed that the name on the certificate was Mbah Peter Ndubuisi, and it was dated January 6, 2003, with certificate number A808297.

Dimas said the name of Chijioke Edeoga, Labour Party’s governorship candidate, was not contained in exhibit 16, the LP’s membership register for Enugu, which he also tendered.
Since his candidacy and subsequent inauguration as governor of Enugu, controversy has trailed the authenticity of Mbah’s NYSC certificate.
TheCable reported that in February, the NYSC in a letter said the certificate belonging to Mbah was not issued by the corps.

The governor has sued the NYSC over what he described as conspiracy, deceit, and misrepresentation of facts.
