Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra and presidential hopeful, has congratulated former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his victory in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election.

On Saturday, Atiku beat Nyesom Wike, Rivers governor; Bukola Saraki, former president of the senate, and Bala Mohammed, Bauchi governor, to clinch the presidential ticket of the opposition party.

While congratulating the former vice-president in a tweet on Sunday, Obi called him “my leader and dear brother”.

The presidential hopeful also prayed for God’s blessings on Atiku.

The former Anambra governor joined the Labour Party on Friday after resigning his membership of the PDP.

“It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party,” he said on resigning from the PDP.
