Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra and presidential hopeful, has congratulated former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his victory in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election.
On Saturday, Atiku beat Nyesom Wike, Rivers governor; Bukola Saraki, former president of the senate, and Bala Mohammed, Bauchi governor, to clinch the presidential ticket of the opposition party.
While congratulating the former vice-president in a tweet on Sunday, Obi called him “my leader and dear brother”.
The presidential hopeful also prayed for God’s blessings on Atiku.

“On behalf of my family, I sincerely congratulate my leader and dear elder brother, H.E Atiku, on his emergence as the 2023 presidential flag bearer of the PDP,” he tweeted.
“I pray that the Almighty God who sees your goodness will continue to bless you now and always. -PO.”

The former Anambra governor joined the Labour Party on Friday after resigning his membership of the PDP.
“It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party,” he said on resigning from the PDP.

“Unfortunately, recent developments within our party make it practically impossible to continue participating and making such constructive contributions.”
Obi is looking to become the presidential standard-bearer of the Labour Party.
