Dakuku Peterside, director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), says the All Progressive Congress (APC) will reject the Rivers east senatorial district rerun election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared George Sekibo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the rerun election.
INEC said Sekibo polled 93,098 votes ahead of Andrew Uchendu of the APC, who had 34,193 votes.
But speaking with journalists on Monday, Peterside said the election was inconclusive in some of the areas that make up the district.

He said the APC would go according to law to resist the alleged irregularities.
“You are aware that elections were inconclusive in Etche local government area. The results for Emohua local government area have not been collated. The results for Port Harcourt city local government area were partially collated,” Peterside said.
“The APC agent was beaten at the collation centre in Port Harcourt. Without him being present, the result was announced in favour of the PDP candidate.

“Whatever result is declared for Rivers East will be ridiculing democracy; APC will not accept any of that.”
