Petroleum ministry to lead discussions at clean energy transition conference in Lagos

Ekperikpe Ekpo, minister of state (gas) in the ministry of petroleum resources, will be the guest of honour at the CNG and LPG expo in Lagos from March 3-4.

At the event, the ministry of petroleum, in collaboration with regional stakeholders and regulators, will make the case for a clean energy transition in Nigeria.

The event, which aims to accelerate the adoption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) as viable energy alternatives, will hold at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island. 

Abiodun Ogunleye, Lagos state commissioner for energy, will deliver a welcome speech as a special  guest and would “emphasise Lagos state’s role in fostering sustainable energy development and strengthening the clean energy ecosystem”.

“Attendees will discover latest advancements in technology solutions driving clean energy adoption and gain insights into Nigeria’s ambitious plan to  transition one million vehicles to natural gas by 2026 and its impact on the regional energy landscape,” a statement from the organisers reads. 

“With more than 1,000 industry professionals, exhibitors, and senior decision-makers expected to attend the expo, discussions around advancing clean energy adoption, shaping policies, and fostering industry collaboration across West Africa will take the front burner.”

Other speakers at the expo will include Richard Gyan-Mensah, Ghana’s deputy minister of energy; Abel Igheghe, technical adviser on downstream to the minister of state for petroleum resources (gas); Mohammed Ibrahim, chairman national gas expansion program (NGEP); Olisa Agbakoba, senior partner & head of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Arbitration; Joseph Chukwurah Ezigbo; managing director at Falcon Corporation; and a host of other industry stakeholders.
