The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 20 new courses for Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2023/2024 academic session.
In a Twitter post on Friday, the institution said the approval was contained in a letter dated July 17 from the commission.
The varsity said the newly approved programmes are for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The courses are B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Building, B.Sc. Estate Management, B.Sc. Environmental Management, B.Sc. Industrial Design, B.Sc. Survey and Geo-Informatics, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning, and B.A. Fine Arts.

They also include B.LIS. Library and Information Science, B.Ed. Special Education, B.Eng. Industrial Engineering & Production, B. Radiography and Radiation Science, BMLS. Medical Laboratory Science, and B.A. Linguistics.
Others are B.Eng. Civil Engineering, B.Sc. Science Laboratory Technology and B.Sc Taxation at the undergraduate level.
Those approved for postgraduate level include Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) and Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT).

The institution said the programmes are domiciled in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, and School of Library, Archival and Information Science.
The varsity added that the approval of the programmes followed a resource verification exercise carried out in April by a panel of experts from the NUC.
In her remark, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the vice-chancellor of the institution, appreciated Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor, for providing the leadership and support that made the approval possible.
She also congratulated the entire university community for “a feat unprecedented in the university’s history”.
