Students with disabilities who graduated from Gombe State University (GSU) were gifted N1 million by Dauda Stanley, a philanthropist, during the university’s graduation ceremony which held last Saturday.
Since its establishment in 2006, GSU has graduated people with disabilities (PWDs) from disciplines spanning economics, political science, and Islamic studies.
The 2023 graduation ceremony was a combination of the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th sets of graduates.
A total of 5,326 students graduated from the combined sets. Nineteen of these graduates were PWDs.

Stanley said “the students defied all barriers” to acquire higher education. He said “this is quite commendable and deserves to be rewarded”.
Shuaibu Adamu, the university’s disability desk officer, described Stanley’s gesture as considerable and assured that the donation will be reasonably used by the beneficiaries.
