Alcaraz had just defeated Dusan Lajovic in two straight sets to qualify for the competition’s round of 16 when he spotted the NBA star in the crowd and the two subsequently engaged in a hearty exchange on the side of the court.
Speaking with ATP.com about the meeting, Butler praised the mentality of the 19-year-old Spaniard, adding that “he’s not No. 1 for no reason”.

“He’s always poised. He’s never rattled and more than anything, it looks like he’s having so much fun out there,” the American said.
“I think whenever you have fun and you have that mentality that you know you’re the best, you go out there and you play as though you’re the best, results happen and he’s not No. 1 for no reason.”
Alcaraz is billed to play the US’ Tommy Paul in the next phase of the competition on Tuesday.
The teenager won the 2022 US Open which made him the youngest ever world no 1 since Juan Carlos Ferrero in 2003.

Meanwhile, a new design of jersey had been unveiled for the Nigerian national teams.
The home jersey is inspired by the traditional Adire style with national colours of green and white elaborately designed in wavy and dotted patterns.
The away kit borrows from the old national team jerseys, with the arms brilliantly designed with black patterns while the torso remains white.
