The 26th edition of the Nigeria Universities Games (NUGA) kicked off on Saturday with a colourful opening ceremony at the sports complex of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The ceremony marked the beginning of an intercollegiate sports festival that will run from March 19 to 26.
About 10,000 student-athletes and officials from 136 Nigerian higher institutions of learning are expected to participate in 17 different sports during the course of the one-week event.
Team UNILAG, the host, will be banking on the home support to gather more than nine gold, four silver and seven bronze medals that saw them finish fourth at the 25th edition in the University of Agriculture, Markudi.
