PHOTOS: Abuja-Kaduna train service resumes operation after 8-month halt

After an eight-month suspension due to a terrorist attack, the Abuja-Kaduna train service has finally resumed operations. 

While observing activities at the Idu rail station in Abuja on Monday, TheCable observed a few passengers accompanied by their loved ones

With their luggage, they moved towards the ticket hall to obtain their boarding passes for the first train scheduled to take off to Rigasa in Kaduna by 9:45 am.

Armed security personnel, including police and civil defence, were also seen.

In March, the government suspended operations on the route after an attack on the train on March 28, leading to the death and abduction of several passengers.

The release of the passengers was in batches, with the last set freed in October.

Now that all abducted passengers have regained freedom, the federal government said the next line of action is the resumption of operations on the route.

The federal government initially said operations would resume last month. However, there was a delay in bringing the plans to realisation.

The FG, in its latest schedule, drew up another timeline for resumption.
