The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have begun screening aspirants for the Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states governorship elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier fixed November 11, 2023, as election day in the three states.
The tenures of the current governors of the states will expire on January 14, 26, and February 13, 2024, respectively.
The screening for the aspirants was conducted at various venues on Saturday.

Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum resources; David Lyon, who contested the 2020 governorship election, and Daumiebi Festus were screened to contest the APC Bayelsa gubernatorial primary.
Dino Melaye, former senator representing Kogi west; Edward Onoja, deputy governor of Kogi; and Abdulkareem Jamiu, chief of staff to the state governor, were also screened by the APC.
Samuel Anyanwu, national secretary of the PDP, was screened for the Imo governorship election.
