Muhammad Barkindo, the late secretary-general of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja hours before his death.
Among those present at the meeting were Timipre Sylva, minister of state petroleum resources; Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff; Mele Kyari, group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC); Farouk Ahmed, CEO of board of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), and Suraj Matori, PR and information OPEC.
Barkindo had also delivered a speech to oil and gas stakeholders at the ongoing 2022 Nigerian oil and gas conference and exhibition in Abuja.
His demise was announced by Kyari, GMD of NNPC, in the early hours of Wednesday.
