The Borno house of assembly on Thursday honoured Ibrahim Mohammed, former commander of the disbanded special anti-robbery squad (SARS) in the state.
At the plenary session, Abdullahi Askira, the deputy speaker, said Mohammed displayed gallantry in the fight against Boko Haram, armed bandits and kidnappers.
Mohammed, who dressed in his police uniform, was accompanied by his wife.
His honour comes at a time when there is a nationwide outrage against the excesses of SARS.
