President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, decorated the newly-appointed service chiefs with new ranks at the council chamber of the presidential villa, Abuja.
Buhari had announced the appointment of the service chiefs in January.
After their screening by a senate panel, they were confirmed on Tuesday.
Lucky Irabor, chief of defence staff, was decorated as a full-star general. He was lieutenant-general. Ibrahim Attahiru, chief of army staff; promoted to the rank of lieutenant-general from major-general; Awwal Gambo, chief of naval staff, decorated as vice-admiral; while Isiaka Amao, chief of air staff, was decorated with the rank of air-marshal.

The ceremony was witnessed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF); Bashir Magashi, defence minister, and Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president.
The service chiefs were accompanied to the ceremony by their wives and some other senior officers of the armed forces.
