John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) says it has trained 540 civil servants in Edo on how to handle the transformation ideas of the state government.

Speaking on Friday, Imuwahen Ajoonu, director-general of the academy, said the Edo government has initiated several reforms in the governance of the state.

Ajoonu said there is a need to train level 8 – 16 civil servants in the state so that they will incorporate the reforms initiated by the state government.

JOOPSA director-general added that the 3-day training will equip participants with an understanding of the theories, skills, knowledge and abilities required to become effective change champions and leaders.

“For Edo workers to truly drive the transformation process, they must possess a strong understanding of change management principles. That is why we trained 540 public servants in three days at JOOPSA,” Ajoonu said.

“The Edo State Government, led by Governor Obaseki has embarked on several groundbreaking reforms such as; e-governance to improve transparency and service delivery.

“The modules for the training were carefully curated to reflect the nuanced nature of the public service, equipping public servants with the necessary tools, to drive change.
