PHOTOS: Enyimba players attacked in Jos after goalless draw with Plateau United

Enyimba players were attacked after their game against Plateau United in Jos on Sunday.

After the matchday 29 fixture had ended in a goalless draw, the home fans at the Ryang Pam Stadium took to the field and assaulted some away team players.

A couple of Enyimba players were wounded in the attack, with blood oozing from the nose of one of them.

Confirming the attack to TheCable, Austin Oladapo, Enyimba’s captain, said the security officers present at the stadium could not stop the violence as the raging fans overpowered them.

The incident is the second time in two weeks that angry home fans would invade a stadium during a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game.

On June 13, Kano Pillars supporters stormed into the pitch to beat up the match officials and Akwa United fans after Nyima Nwagua’s goal was cancelled for offside.
