Former Super Eagles players like Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Taribo West, and Victor Ikpeba were among the popular faces that attended the unveiling of the re-modelled Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
The commissioning ceremony was held on Wednesday inside the multi-use stadium in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
The event was witnessed by top dignitaries including Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president; Rotimi Akeredolu, the chairman of the south-west governors’ forum; and Governor Godwin Obaseki, his Edo counterpart, as well as Amaju Pinnick, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Also present at the unveiling were Rasheed Ladoja, the former governor of Oyo; and Adegboye Onigbinde, a former Super Eagles coach.

Other attendees include traditional rulers, Kunmi Mustapha, chairman, PDP in Oyo state; Wasiu Adeleke, the party secretary in the state, and a host of ex-Super Eagles players like Peter Rufai, Tijani Babagida, and Garuba Lawal.
The event featured a novelty match between ex-Shooting Stars players and former Super Eagles players as well as a friendly match between the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and NK Tabor Sezana, a top Slovenian league side.
