It was an afternoon of tributes on Friday, as media stakeholders converged on the Muson Centre in Onikan, Lagos, to honour “fallen” veteran journalists.
The event, tagged ‘An Afternoon of Tributes – Honouring the Dead, Inspiring the Living’, was organised by the Nigerian Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).
Late journalists honoured were Lateef Jakande, Wada Maida, Tony Momoh, Ismaila Isa, Gbolabo Ogunsanwo, Bisi Lawrence, Eddie Aderinokun, Ben Egbuna, and Sam Nda-Isaiah.
Present at the event were Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos; Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti governor; Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Ogun deputy governor; Yahaya Abubakar, chairman, Niger state council of traditional rulers, among others.

Also present were relatives of the veteran journalists.
