Public and private schools resumed academic activities in some states across the country on Monday.
The development comes amid concerns over the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The federal government had directed strict compliance with COVID-19 protocol as a condition for reopening schools.
But to what extent did some schools comply with the directive?

TheCable visited several schools across the country on Monday to observe the level of compliance among students and staff.
At Lagos state Model College, Yaba, there was no strict compliance with COVID-19 protocol. While some students wore facemasks, others did not. The security guards on duty were unperturbed as they did nothing to ensure compliance with safety protocol.
Checks at African Church Model College and Ifako Ijaiye Senior Secondary High School, both in Ogba, Lagos, however, showed there was strict compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.

Most students were seen wearing facemasks, and temperature checks were being done at the gate in these schools.
At Agidingbi Senior Grammar School, Ikeja, students who were without facemasks were turned back at the gate.
In Ogun state, at Zumratul Islammiyah Primary School, Akute in Ifo local government area, teachers were seen standing in groups chatting without facemasks on.
At Asore Grammar School in Akute, however, there was partial compliance with COVID-19 protocol. Students who were not wearing facemasks were sent back at the school gate.

At L.E.A Primary and Secondary School, Dogongada in the federal capital territory (FCT), there was no social distancing or use of facemasks by pupils and staff.
At Créme Quintessence Primary and Secondary School, Lokogoma, Abuja, a teacher was seen without a facemask on.
