PHOTOS: In historic moment, first batch of Saudi female soldiers graduate

The Saudi Arabian ministry of defence, on Wednesday, graduated the first batch of female soldiers from the Armed Forces Women’s Cadre Training Centre.

The graduation of the female soldiers is the first in the country’s history.

The female soldiers completed a 14-week basic individual course that began on May 30.

According to Saudi Gazette, Adel Al-Balawi, head of the Armed Forces Education and Training Authority, said that the centre aims to provide excellent professional training services for female staff of the ministry of defence, in vocational areas.

Also present at the graduation was Suleiman Al-Maliki, acting commander of the Armed Forces Women’s Cadre Training Centre.

Saudi Arabia is known for limiting women in participating in public activities, but in 2017, the kingdom granted women the right to drive cars and also allowed them into sports stadiums.
