Former US President Jimmy Carter was honoured with a solemn funeral at the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday.
Carter died on December 29 at the age of 100. He was the first former US president to reach the age.
President Joe Biden had declared Thursday a national day of mourning.
Biden eulogised Carter, saying his enduring attribute was his strong character.

President-elect Donald Trump was in attendance, as were former presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Barack Obama.
Kamala Harris, vice-president and Democratic presidential nominee in the last election, was also present.
World leaders including Justin Trudeau, Canadian prime minister; Britain’s Prince Edward; and Antonio Guterres, United Nations (UN) secretary-general; were also at the procession.

Carter’s casket was taken back to Georgia, where he was laid to rest in his hometown of Plains at the same location where his wife, Rosalynn, was buried last year.
