Mele Kyari, group chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, joined other global personalities to discuss climate issues and their rising complexities.
In a statement on Saturday, Olufemi Soneye, chief corporate communications officer, NNPCL, said the meeting was held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in Dubai, UAE.
Soneye said Kyari engaged with other dignitaries on the sidelines of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), more commonly referred to as COP28.
Some of the personalities engaged with on climate issues at a reception are; John Kerry, special US White House presidential envoy on climate, and Brian Moynihan, chief executive officer of the Bank of America, amongst others.

Soneye added that the reception, organised by the COP28 presidency and the Sustainable Markets Initiatives, to open the business and philanthropy climate forum in the presence of King Charles III and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held at the VIP lounge at Dubai exhibition centre north hall, blue zone, expo city, in Dubai, UAE.
President Bola Tinubu, is also in Dubai for the conference and is expected to speak on Nigeria’s stance on various thematic issues, including renewable energy and climate financing.
