PHOTOS: NAF conducts route march to bolster operational readiness

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted its fourth quarter 2024 route march – a series of coordinated shows of physical fitness – to reinforce its operational readiness.

At the event in Abuja on Saturday, Hasan Abubakar, chief of air staff (CAS), who was the guest of honour, said the march is critical to the physical and mental preparedness for all personnel due to the security challenges facing Nigeria.

He said the event speaks to the strategic intent to develop and sustain optimal operational effectiveness in the NAF.

Abubakar highlighted plans to upgrade NAF sporting facilities, including constructing a state-of-the-art gym at the NAF special operations command.

He said operatives should ensure weekly participation in sporting activities to foster fitness, teamwork, and talent discovery.

Abubakar also said that youth competitions are in the works to engage young people in NAF bases and uncover hidden talents, adding that there will be provision of essential resources and training to support personnel in all operational tasks.

Abubakar led the attendees in a mark of honour for five personnel of NAF who recently lost their lives in an accident on their way to represent Nigeria at the African Military Games 2024 in Abuja.
