A year ago, at least five people lost their lives at the explosion that rocked Bodija estate in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
The blast, which occurred at Aderinola street, Adeyi Avenue in the Bodija area of Ibadan, left many cars and over 50 houses damaged.
Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state, said the explosion, was caused by illegal miners who stored explosive devices in an apartment in the area.
Last December, Makinde inaugurated a 10-member committee to oversee the disbursement of relief funds to the victims.

The governor said the committee would oversee the management and disbursement of the relief fund to those who lost properties to the explosion.
He added that the government would only support the people affected, not compensate them.
Last week, the Bodija Estate Residents’ Association (BERA) announced a memorial service to honour the victims of the explosion.
