The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled Eric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
The federation presented the newly appointed manager to the public on Monday at the media centre of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The 47-year-old Franco-Malian coach was appointed on January 7. He takes over as substantive head coach of the nation’s men’s football team from Austin Eguavoen, who has been leading in an acting capacity since the exit of Finidi George.
Dignitaries present at the unveiling included Shehu Dikko, chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC); Ibrahim Gusau, president of the NFF; and Augustine Eguavoen, technical director of the NFF.
Chelle’s foremost task will be getting the Super Eagles 2026 World Cup qualification back on track. The team is fifth in the qualification group and winless after four games.
However, before reviving the country’s World Cup hopes, the Franco-Malian will immediately lead the Super Eagles B team to the African Nations Championship in February.
