Mohammed Bazoum, president of Niger Republic, on Tuesday, decorated Babagana Zulum, Borno state governor, with the country’s second-highest national honour, de Grand Officer dans I`Ordre.
Bazoum said the Borno governor was recognised for his courage, sincere fight against Boko Haram, deep concern for the plight of Borno citizens taking refuge in Niger.
The decoration ceremony took place in Zindar as part of events lined up by the Niger government to celebrate the country’s independence day.
The honour is only second to the ‘Grand Croix Des Ordre National Du Niger’. It is the first time a Nigerien president would honour a Nigerian governor with the country’s second-highest national award.
