The Ariaria police station in Aba, Abia state, has been burnt down.
Although there are conflicting reports about what led to the incident, the station was said to have been attacked on Thursday morning.
Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and soldiers have repeatedly clashed since Operation Python Dance II, a military exercise, began in the state.
The attack on the police station is coming a day after members of the group were said to have killed a police sergeant in Rivers state.

Geoffrey Ogbonna, the state police spokesman, could not confirm the incident as efforts made by TheCable to reach him proved abortive.
Residents who spoke to TheCable said the attack had caused panic in the area.
Security operatives were seen arriving at the area command headquarters shortly after the incident.

Security has also been beefed up in the area and some parts of the road have been cordoned off, according to the residents.
