After weeks of heatwaves, an early morning rainfall in Lagos on Tuesday has left many communities in the commercial city flooded, with houses submerged and properties damaged.
Many residents were trapped in their vehicles while others could not leave their homes due to the heavy downpour that led to the flooding.
The areas most affected include Alimosho; Ayobo; Ipaja; Agege; Ejigbo; Abule-Egba; Ogba and Egbeda areas of Lagos.
Motorists and commuters were also left stranded due to the flooding in Sango area of Ogun state.

In a statement via X, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) urged residents of the flooded communities to take alternative routes.
“Lagos residents are urged to take caution and use alternative routes as flash floods are occurring due to high volume of rainfall,” the statement reads.
