Muhammad Sanusi II, emir of Kano, met with Pope Francis and the Archbishop of Canterbury during a conference in Assisi, Italy, on Tuesday.
At least 400 leaders attended the programme, themed ‘Thirst for peace: religions and cultures in dialogue’.
It was organised by the diocese of Assisi, the Franciscan Families and the Sant’Egidio Community.
Ignatius Kaigama, president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, and Mathew Kukah, Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese, were among the Nigerian religious figures at the event.

This is encouraging. Our Islamic leaders attending a conference arranged by Christian missionaries. As ordinary citizens in Nigeria, we should take a cue from this and cease senseless conflicts and sensitivity among us. Long live a peaceful Nigeria.
