PHOTOS: Security operatives besiege Lagos assembly as Meranda’s resignation rumours grow

There is heightened security around the Lagos state house of assembly complex in Ikeja, amid rumours that Mojisola Meranda could resign as speaker of the assembly. 

A posse of police and task force personnel encircled the complex Monday morning.

The offices of the speaker, her deputy, and clerk of the house were locked.

Meranda was elected as the first female speaker of the Lagos legislature on January 13, 2025, following the removal of Mudashiru Obasa.

TheCable understands that pressure has been mounting on her to throw in the towel.
