Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) marched on the streets of Abuja on Tuesday to commemorate the birthday of Ibrahim el-Zakzaky, their leader.
El-Zakzaky has been in the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS) since December 2015. He is currently facing trial over “culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace”.
His supporters called on the federal government to release him. They threatened to change their style of protest if the government continues to keep their leader in detention.
