Governors of the southern states are currently meeting in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, to discuss issues affecting the region.
The meeting of the southern governors is taking place at the presidential lodge, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta.
This is the first time the southern governors are meeting after the death of Rotimi Akeredolu, the former governor of Ondo.
Akeredolu, who died on December 27, 2023, was the last chairman of the southern governors’ forum.

Governors present at the meeting are Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Alex Otti of Abia, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom.
The deputy governors at the meeting are Olayide Adelami of Ondo, Chinyere Ekomaru of Imo, and Monday Onyeme of Delta.
Sharing pictures from the meeting via X, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, said the southern governors will discuss issues affecting the region and the country.
