PHOTOS: Super Eagles arrive Freetown ahead of Sierra Leone clash

The Super Eagles and eight-man delegation to Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Sierra Leone have arrived in Freetown.

They arrived in Freetown on Monday afternoon aboard a chartered Medair Aviation airline from Benin city, Edo state.

The delegation touched down at 1:15pm and took a 30-minute ferry ride on the Atlantic from the international airport in Lungi to the Sierra Leonean capital.

The team and officials were received by Sona Charles, charge d’affaires of the Nigeria high commission in Sierra Leone.

After undergoing COVID-19 tests, the players and officials boarded the ferry and eventually arrived at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown around 4pm.

Coach Gernot Rohr and his technical team led a total of 22 players and the backroom staff.

Leone Stars drew the three-time African champions 4-4 on Friday at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city.

The second leg of the 2022 AFCON group L match is expected to kick-off on Tuesday at 5pm.

Amaju Pinnick, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), had charged the Eagles to beat Sierra Leone by four goals to nothing.
