PHOTOS: Super Eagles hold first training session ahead of AFCON

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have held their first training session in preparation for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The training, which held on Sunday at the Moshood Abiola national stadium in Abuja, had in attendance 11 players — Moses Simon, Francis Uzoho, Henry Onyekuru, Peter Olayinka, Chidozie Awaziem, Chidera Ejuke, Daniel Akpeyi, Sadiq Umar, Olisa Ndah, John Noble, and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Augustine Eguavoen, the Super Eagles’ interim coach, watched closely while the players were in training.

With the players scheduled to depart for Garoua, Cameroon, on January 6, the remaining team members are expected to arrive at the camp on Monday and Tuesday.

Nigeria’s first match kicks off on January 11 against Egypt, after which the Eagles will face Sudan and Guinea-Bissau on January 15 and 19, respectively.
