Ibrahim Dankwambo, former governor of Gombe, alongside stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), held a meeting with Danjuma Goje, senator representing Gombe central, on Friday.
Also present at the meeting were Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers; Philip Aduda, senate deputy minority leader; and Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti.
The meeting held behind closed doors at Goje’s Abuja residence.
The meeting was said to have focused on wooing Goje to return to the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.

Goje, a former governor of Gombe, left the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014.
There had been reports in 2021 of plans by the former governor to leave the PDP, but he had denied the claims.
For months, supporters of the Gombe senator and Inuwa Yahaya, current governor of Gombe, were at loggerheads over control of the APC in the state.

But in January 2022, the APC caretaker committee had held a reconciliation meeting involving Yahaya and Goje.
