Yemi Kale, former statistician general, and Waziri Adio, former executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), were feted in Lagos at the weekend for exemplary service to the country.
The Nigerian Retail Investors (NRI), a virtual group which also doubles as a brain trust with mostly private sector experts with interests in fields as diverse as investment, technology, media, politics and sports, played host to the due and presented them with plaques.
The plaque read: “We celebrate you for your exemplary service, notable accomplishments and immense contribution to the growth of our country. Thank you for being a beacon of impact and significance.”
Kale was the director-general of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) from 2011-2021, serving out two full terms.

Adio also served a non-renewable term of five years from 2016 to 2021.
Both men shared their experiences in government at a session moderated by Rotus Oddiri of Arise News TV, another member of NRI which was founded by Ugo Obi-Chukwu, publisher of Nairametrics.
The opening remarks were made by Yomi Fawehinmi, a human resource professional, and Obi-Chukwu while Obi Akisa, creative industries entrepreneur, proposed the toast.

Osita Chidoka, former chief executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), was one of the guests in attendance at the event which was held at Southern Sun Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Those who attended are: Hameed Olanrewaju, Adekunle Adebiyi, Wale Okunrinboye, Obinna Azuike,
Odion Aleobua, Nwannebuike Orjiude, Idris Aina, Onome Ohwovoriole, Fiona Ahimie, Legend Adedamola, Enetomhe Otsemobor, Adedamola Adegun, Bethia Idoko, Raphael Yemitan and Elohor Isiakpere.
Others are Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, Abraham Durosawo, Tunji Andrews, Ijeoma Uju, Jumoke Olaniyan, Kamilu Omokide, Obinna Azuike, Oluwaseun Smith and Anthony Osae-Brown.
