The Plateau state government has officially handed over the newly completed north-central zonal office building to the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
The event, held on Thursday, saw Ayuba Gufwan, the executive secretary of NCPWD, and his directors receive the facility from Peter Gai, the state’s commissioner for land, survey, and planning.
Gai, who was acting on behalf of Caleb Muftwang, the Plateau state governor, reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to inclusion and supporting persons with disabilities (PWDs).
In his address, Gufwan expressed gratitude to the state government for its continued commitment to the welfare of PWDs.

He emphasised that the new zonal office would contribute to a more inclusive society, improving the quality of life for PWDs across the region.
Lengnen Jurmang, chair of the Plateau State Disability Rights Commission, also commended the government’s efforts and praised Gufwan for his leadership in establishing zonal offices aimed at enhancing disability-related services nationwide.
Shindol Aaron, chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) in Plateau, called on the state government to increase employment opportunities for PWDs, highlighting the need for greater integration in the workforce.

The ceremony ended with the symbolic handover of the office building’s key to Gufwan, marking a significant milestone in the state’s disability inclusion efforts.
Senior NCPWD officials, state dignitaries, and representatives from various disability advocacy groups were present at the event.
