The Nigerians in Diaspora Coalition (NDC) has vowed to embark on protest in the United States and the United Kingdom over the Appeal Court rulings on Plateau state.

The group made this known in an electronic statement titled: ‘The Return Of The Vampires’ signed by its president, Rejoice Adeniyi.

Adeniyi said the Nigerians abroad were prepared to demonstrate their total disapproval of external meddling in the affairs of the judiciary by politicians.

According to her, the protests will be held simultaneously at the United Nations headquarters in New York and the Palace of Westminster in London to let the world know what is happening in Nigeria.

The statement said if urgent steps are not taken, the vampires who once dressed in military uniforms to sabotage the nation’s democracy through the back door will ruin the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

“The Nigerians in Diaspora Coalition is a group of concerned and patriotic citizens with a common interest which is our dear country. From time to time, we lend our voices to critical national issues that affect the common man back home,” she said.

“We have been saddened by the latest development from our nation as it concerns the Appeal Court judgments. Our democracy is under serious threat, the judiciary is hijacked by desperate individuals.

“In Plateau State, we have seen a worrying trend. The Appeal Court delivered judgments against People’s Democratic Party members, particularly Governor Caleb Mutfwang, truncating their mandate.

“One lawmaker in the ruling party even predicted the Court judgment of the Tribunal and the Appeal Court before it was delivered, demonstrating that who they know is superior to our Constitution and democracy.

“We, therefore, call on the Chairman of the National Judicial Council (NJC) to constitute a commission inquiry into the nature of the failure of the Court of Appeal to follow judicial precedents. The President of the Court of Appeal should immediately disband the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel and a new one should be constituted to hear the remaining appeals as the current panel has shown manifest bias to unduly favour the APC candidates.

“The prejudiced and inconsistent judgments already delivered in the appeals should also be subjected to judicial review, as they were given without substantive and procedural jurisdiction.”
